Meet the Teachers

We start school next week but before we do, we get to meet our new teachers. Tate is going to be in school 2 mornings a week with Ms. Marci (it's the children's morning out program but she's super excited and says 'school, school, school!) and since I'm big and I'm 4, I'll be in school 4 days a week with Ms. Menke and Ms. Phillips. I'm pretty pumped to be in the blue room this year and have some familiar faces joining me as well.

Denver Aquarium

Goodbye, Crested Butte! It's been a fabulous 10 days but now we have to head back to Austin. We're flying out of Denver, which is a 4 hour drive, and our flight isn't until late tonight so mommy and daddy surprised us with a quick trip to the Denver Aquarium. I've been to the Atlanta Aquarium before but I think I may have been too young to really remember much. This time, I was fascinated by the fish and exhibits - my favorites were the sharks and sting rays! In fact, I even got to touch some of the animals. I touched a baby python and with 2 fingers I got to touch a sting ray. My baby was just as excited as I was and to make things even better, because daddy went into the exhibit backwards and started at the end, we got to go through it twice!

Tate loved this mama monkey. She moved, 'talked' and was very realistic.
Help! We've been eaten by a shark!
See my baby in the dive suit below?
This was the coolest thing ever. This is a baby embryo shark in a real sack. The exhibit showed the shark's developmental stages but this was a real baby shark moving and growing right in front of our eyes. Absolutely amazing.

I'm proud to be an American!

After dinner, we passed by this American flag and of course, for mommy it was a photo op. Can you tell we're used to the camera always in our faces?

Picnic in the Mountains

It's our last official day in Crested Butte and what better way to spend it than having a picnic and some fun in the fresh mountain air? It was a little overcast and cool but the rain stayed away until we were done with our picnic and heading back down the mountain in our oh so cool mini van

I can do it!

Daddy is off fishing and Bubba is at camp again, so mommy and I got to spend another day together. Of course, before going in the sun I have to have sun screen on and today, I decided to surprise mommy and put it on all by myself. I'm such a big girl!
See - even my hair has protection now

Concert on the Lawn

Each Wednesday during the summer, Mt. Crested Butte has a concert similiar to our ''Blues on the Green". Tonight was the last concert this year and we packed a little picnic and found the perfect grassy spot in order to watch the concert. It seemed like everyone else in the town had the same idea because the place was packed and there wasn't a lot of sitting - just a lot of dancing.

The Trailhead Children's Museum

New since the last time we visited is the Trailhead Children's Museum on Mt. Crested Butte. We decided to check it out and I'm so glad we did! I didn't want to leave and spent most of my time in the dig pit. Here are some pictures from our fun day.

Feeding the Chipmunks

Even though it's not snowing, we can still take the ski lift up 11,000 on Mt. Crested Butte to enjoy the views and a little hiking. You can even hike to the Summit, over 12,000 feet, but that might be a little ambitious with a 4 year old and an almost 2 year old. Yesterday, my camp team and I went up the mountain and fed the chipmunks so I thought mommy, daddy and Tatie would enjoy it as well. After our 15 minute, beautiful ride up the mountain, I lead our group on what I call a short hike (they would disagree - especially because they were in flip flops) to where the chipmunks were. We took lots of fun snacks for them and had a great time meeting new chipmunk friends and sharing our snacks.

Oh, I also informed mommy and daddy that the little chipmunks were Mexican chipmunks and the bigger chipmunks were Colorado chipmunks.
