Art Show

At my school, we do lots of art projects each week and tonight we get to bring our families for a kind of 'open house art show' complete with Mangia pizza! I have been talking about my art show all week and can't wait to show off some of my hidden talent.

Trippism - Making Music

Joe McDermott has a song about making music, and one sentence says 'Clap your hands, let your body make music'. The little guy has a different interpretation he likes to sing at the top of his lungs.

'Clap your hands, let your bottom make music'. He then asked, 'mommy why do we want our bottom to make music?'

Strawberry Fields Forever

Mommy isn't one to give up easily. So, today we all packed up and headed out to Sweet Berry Farms and this time they were open! We picked strawberries, saw the farm animals and the very best was the homemade strawberry popsicles for dessert. My baby had the best time picking strawberries....and was really good at it until she realized these were the same strawberries she likes to eat! After that, it was game over for picking and game on for eating.

Icky Thumb Chart - Round 2

Ok - it's time for round 2 since according to mommy, round 1 was a complete failure. This time, mommy really has stepped up the bribery so we'll see if it works. If I don't have my icky thumb for 30 days straight (nighttime excluded but I'm sure that will be next), then I get to go to the toy store and pick out something awesome! I helped make my thumb chart this time and even pasted pictures from the toy catalog for inspiration. Wish me luck!

The Biscuit Brothers

Mommy had a special surprise for me today and we went to the Paramont Theater to see the Biscuit Brothers LIVE in concert! We went with Victoria and her mommy and had the best time singing, dancing and of course eating popcorn. I can't wait to see them again soon!
Mommy wasn't supposed to have her camera inside so she did the best she could while trying not to get caught.
It's Buford Biscuit!
I was so tired from the day that I didn't even make it through 1 story.

A Sticky Situation

Daddy was sweet and took us to run errands with him so mommy could sleep for a couple of hours but he sure brought home a mess for mommy to clean up. Daddy said it was the sweet old man at the woodworking shop's fault.

You can have hair with volume like this, too, if you just rub tootsie roll pops throughout.

Earth Day 2010

In celebration of Earth Day, we met up with Emmylou and Miller at the Triangle Festival and Farmer's Market. There were tons of people, booths, dogs and activities to do and see but Emmylou and I spent most of our time with the pet snails. They were slimy and gooey and I think I thought they were cool. I'm still undecided. After playing with the snails, we got our faces painted and then headed over to Galaxy Cafe for dinner.
So many comments but we'll leave this one alone.

Making Lemonade

I woke up from my nap today and went straight to the kitchen and pulled all of the lemons out of the refrigerator. When mommy asked what I was doing, I told her 'why I'm making lemonade of course'. Mommy replied with 'do you know how to make lemonade?' and I told her 'mommy, it's just lemons, water and sugar'. Um...ok. So with that, mommy and I made delicious lemonade - easy as 1, 2, 3.

The Very Hungry Caterpillars

We do really cool things in class but I'm SUPER excited about our latest adventure. We're growing butterflies and I tell mommy about it every day. We started with little caterpillars, fed them and watched them make their cocoons and now they just came out and are beautiful butterflies! We have been feeding them oranges and strawberries (among other things) and today we're letting them loose in our beautiful butterfly garden outside. I'm sure going to miss them but I think they'll be happier out there with their other butterfly friends.

Girlfriends

We went to play at Emmylou's house today while mommy had a meeting. Miller and I were playing 'boy stuff' and the girls were pretending to have a sleep over. When mommy got back, she found three little monkeys snuggled in the bed.

The streaker

My baby loves to streak around the house and I don't blame her one bit. She runs down the hall and makes her way up the stairs before anyone can catch her. Tonight, daddy got naked baby kisses

M-Beaux's

My cousin, Trevor, just turned 16 and his birthday party was at his daddy's restaurant in Anderson, TX so we decided to go help celebrate. It was a crawfish boil and his daddy took me on a private tour and watch all of the crawfish cooking. I had never had crawfish before but it didn't take me long to figure out how to peel them and eat them. I kept asking mommy what the yellow stuff was and she just said 'part of the crawfish'. I didn't like the sound of that so from that point on, I just peeled them and let other people eat. At least I tried them!

Right on Track.....

Mommy gets weekly updates on our development through BabyCenter.com. Here is the weekly update received today for Tate at 18 months, week 3:

"Now that your child has mastered some key words, she'll soon figure out (if she hasn't already) that saying those words in a REALLY LOUD VOICE is a surefire way to get what she wants."

Yep......she's right on track!

So close - yet so far away

We love going to Sweet Berry Farms to pick strawberries and although it's a little over an hour outside of Austin, we decided to go with Gaby, Emmylou and Miller on an afternoon adventure. We loaded up the cars after swimming lessons complete with picnics and off we went. Too excited to sleep, we finally made it to Sweet Berry Farms only to learn they are closed on Wednesdays. Really? Who closes on a Wednesday - especially when 3 cars filled with cute little children are sitting out at the gate anxiously waiting to get in? Can you say melt down? I had a complete melt down in the car and told mommy to just 'drive over the the gate and go in'. After much conversation, we decided that not all was lost because we would go have lunch and award winning pie at Bluebonnet Cafe. Yum! Who needs strawberries anyway?

Texas Bluebonnets

The bluebonnet pictures didn't go as well as mommy had planned this year. The sun was too bright, my baby was in a mood (imagine that) and didn't want to cooperate and to top it all off, I was itching and ended up with hives all over my body later that day and on claritin for the next few days. With that being said, I present to you the bluebonnet pictures for 2010.

Emmylou picked it. :)

18 month check up

Tate had her 18 month check up today and let's just say it was eventful. Walking in to the dr. office was fine (as soon as she saw the fish) but going back to the examining room was a completely different story. Have I mentioned temper tantrums are our new thing? She literally threw herself on the floor kicking and screaming when the nurse walked in. She hadn't touched her, just walked in. When the dr. came in, it was worse. To sum it up, doc said she was very strong and very feisty. Ah, thanks doc - I hadn't noticed.

Latest stats:
22 lbs 12 oz 25th percentile
31 inches 75th percentile

After 2 shots and a plastic fish, we were safely out and she was safely in Miss Connie's arms. Lucky for us our next visit isn't until age 2.

Swimming Lessons

We have swimming lessons every week at Emler Swim School and here are a couple of recent swimming pictures where Tate is screaming the entire time.
