The Cabin

Daddy and I went to College Station this week to help paint Mama's cabin on the farm. It was a busy weekend and we worked hard making the cabin nice and new again. I was a big helper and transported useful items with my tractor - so much so that the battery was dead and I had to get a new one. On breaks, I helped catch grasshoppers so that I could fishing with Grandpa Smokey and we caught some monster catfish! It was a great weekend and I think mommy and my baby even enjoyed their girl's weekend as well.

Last day of school

I survived my first year of preschool! We had so much fun all year long and it's hard to believe it's over. Thanks to Ms. Patti and Ms. Mary Lee, I'm a pro with my numbers, colors and ABCs. I experimented with all types of objects with paint and crayons and have a wall of artwork to show for it. I learned silly songs and dances and I bonded with all of my preschool friends. I think summer will be fun but I can't wait for preschool again (and either can mommy!). One down.....how many more years of schooling to go?

Freedom!

My baby fell out of her crib this morning. I left mommy in charge and obviously she didn't have a handle on things. Mommy put my baby down for a nap and not long afterwards, she heard a 'thud' and my baby crying. When she ran upstairs, my baby was on the floor, which according to mommy, is definitely not where she left her. We didn't know she could pull herself up yet and so mommy and daddy hadn't lowered the crib yet. Needless to say, it's lowered now and she's pulling up on everything.

(Before you call CPS, mommy did call the pediatrician immediately and watched for signs of injury. My baby is just fine.)

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a nice, laid back Memorial Day weekend filled with lots of projects and a little bit of relaxation. On Saturday, while daddy was home working on my sandbox, mommy took my baby and me to Miss Liz's sister's house for a little get together. They had bunnies, and a swingset, and a flower bed for me to dig in with trucks, and a pool, and a hot tub and best of all...BUNNIES! I LOVE BUNNIES! Thank you, Piersals, for a fun afternoon!

THE Sandbox

Does anybody know how much sand it takes to fill a 12x12 sandbox? My daddy does! He had to order not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4.5 TONS of sand. Yes, you read that correctly. Hard to believe but I witnessed it with my own eyes. In fact, the big dump truck actually brough 5.8 TONS of sand and dumped it in the middle of the driveway. Mommy was thrilled. Daddy spent all day shoveling the sand and transporting it over to my sandbox. Daddy must really love me because it took 11 hours! The last 2 hours it rained and made the sand even heavier than it already was after such a long day. Daddy, thank you for my special sandbox. This is a memory I will cherish forever.
It sure doesn't LOOK like a lot of sand.

On the move...

Guess who started crawling? Yep - my baby! I did the army crawl until I was a year old but my baby didn't want to mess with all of that. She got right up on her knees and off she went. I think she likes being able to cruise around although she's still not as fast as me. Way to go, Tatie-Tate!

Mud and Water Day!

What do you get when you give a bunch of 3 year olds free access to bubbles, paint, shaving cream, water sprinklers, wading pools, pools filled with shaving cream, paint easels and more? You get kids covered with paint, kids covered with shaving cream, wet kids and just to sum it up, a big ole mess also known as 'Mud and Water Day' at my school! This is officially my favorite day of the year!
Ellie's baby, baby Eden (mommy was watching her for a couple of hours) and my baby had fun watching us play and get all dirty. I bet they'd have fun, too, but they are just too little.
Here is my class enjoying afternoon popsicles.

Boggy Creek Farms

Austin has all kinds of neat places to go and today, we went to the Boggy Creek Farms Farmer's Market. They had chickens and tractors and lots of fresh veggies to choose from. I helped mommy 'pick' the best produce to bring home to daddy. Afterwards, we went to eat at the Trailor Park Eatery and had tacos and cupcakes. Now that is my kind of day!

Any place with a sandbox has gotta be cool!
Friendly hug
I LOVE tractors!

One Day...

One Day...

...I'll be big

...I won't say 'yittle' when saying 'I'm your little guy'

...I won't want warm milk milk in the morning

...I won't want to climb into bed with mommy and daddy and snuggle

...I won't suck my thumb

...I won't scream with excitement when I see a Bob the Builder

...Roly Poly bugs won't be so interesting

...Mommy's flower beds will be safe from all of my digging
...I won't want mommy or daddy to 'lay with me for a little bit' when I go to bed
...I won't enjoy singing 'Pop Goes the Weasel' at the top of my lungs in the car
...Bathtime won't be so fun

Zilker Park Train

Since my baby has so much fun with me on my train, I thought it was time to take her to the Zilker Park train. Mommy and Tatie had never been to the Zilker train but I go all of the time with Miss Connie. In fact, once we parked, I had to show mommy how to get to the train! Silly mommy! We had a great time and I bet we'll go back often over the summer.
My baby didn't like it when we were screaming in the tunnel.

My mommy is a seaweed

....or back in the womb, whichever you prefer. Mommy and daddy's anniversary was on Easter this year so they decided to celebrate with a mini getaway this past weekend and went to 'The Crossings'. My baby and I were so excited because it was our first overnight stay away from them and we got to stay with Aunt Cindy and Uncle Chris Saturday night. Although they missed us, I think they enjoyed their time away but the place was not what they expected. I bet they thought they were going to get some rest and relaxation away from us kiddos but that really didn't happen because the smoke alarm kept going off in their room every 2 hours. See mommy, we're not THAT noisy! On Sunday morning, they went to the spa where daddy had a deep tissue massage and mommy tried the Watsu massage. The Watsu is "a unique aquatic massage treatment using gentle acupressure, stretching, and flowing movements to nurture mind, body, and spirit while you float in a warm pool of water." Hmmm....ok. When mommy got to the pool, her 'therapist' told her that she would become seaweed. I'm not sure that's what mommy was looking for but she went ahead and put the floats on her legs. The entire experience was definitely different if not a little awkward and afterwards, the therapist said that most of her clients feel like they were back in the womb and asked mommy, 'did you enjoy that same experience? Did you, too, find yourself back in the womb'? Next time I think she'll stick with what she knows - a facial.

All Aboard!

I have a new game I play with my baby. She likes to sit on my musical train with me and I drive her all around the house. I'm very careful with her and make sure she doesn't fall off but every now and then when mommy isn't looking, I take her on a fast ride and sometimes we spin out. She loves it but it's our little secret. Now that she's a little bigger, I'm having so much fun with her.

Girlfriends

Eden is my baby's little girlfriend and they're 6 weeks apart. Eden's mommy had a work meeting and asked if Eden could come play with us for a few hours. Of course we said yes. My baby and I love Eden!
Easily amused.
My baby and Eden think I'm funny. I think I'll get used to this!

Feedin' Starvin' Marvin

My baby loves to eat and it seems like she eats all of the time. I was a big eater, too, and mommy used to make my baby food when I was little because otherwise, I would have eaten her out of house and home. Because mommy did it for me, she of course has to do it for my baby. I helped this time and we made butternut squash, sweet potatoes and peaches! Mommy said next week we'll make green beans and peas. We now have a stash in the freezer and my starvin' marvin won't be starvin' for long.

Miracles on Wheels

Mommy and I did something pretty neat today. Last night, she went with Miss Becca to feed the homeless people of Austin with Mobile Loaves and Fishes. I'm still too little to go on the truck but one day I'll be big enough to help. There were a few 'dinners' left and she brought them back with her because there are some homeless people she always sees on the way home. Well, they weren't in their usual spots so mommy brought the dinner sacks home and put them in the fridge.

This morning, she reminded me of the people we see on the street from time to time and that they usually don't have a home, money or food. We decided to take the food and find 'our' homeless people so they wouldn't be hungry. We passed out a few but still had some left. I asked mommy where the homeless people were and she said she didn't know. I told her 'I bet they're all at Miss Jamie's house'. (Miss Jamie and mommy work together in real estate. ) Next time, we'll start our search there.

Butt Paste Anyone?

Somehow, (and of course I don't know how) I found myself in a fire ant pile and those mean ole fire ants bit me all over my feet! I've had fire ant bites before with no complaints but this time, they really hurt! I was crying (with real tears this time) and mommy kept asking me what would help. I told her butt paste! It helps my baby's diaper rash so why wouldn't it help my ant bites? Doubtful, she 'pasted' my bites and it worked! How do you spell relief? B.U.T.T P.A.S.T.E! Who knew? Check it out for yourself. Happy Mother's Day

To all the special 'mommies' in my life. Whether we talk often or you just keep up through this blog, each of you are truly a blessing and inspiration to me. May Mother's Day be special for you and those with whom you share it with. As a wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, I have a lot to be thankful for and I am truly thankful for having very special mothers in my life. Thank You Moms!

Happy Birthday, Annie!

Today is my friend Annie's 3rd Birthday and she had a waterslide moonwalk, swimming pools and Amy's ice cream at her party! Annie is in my class and there were a few other familiar class faces there too (Sophia, Emmylou and Andrew). We had such a great time and after lots of water play time, I ate my weight in ice cream. It was 'make your own sundae' and I took them up on it. Thank yu for inviting me Annie and I hope you had a great birthday!

Not so sure about the 'slip n slide' moonwalk

Ouch!

My baby has been cranky with a fever the past few days. Mommy and I decided to take her to the doctor, since we seem to be there weekly and wouldn't want to break the tradition, and the doc confirmed she has a mild case of croup and her first ear infection. (By the time I was 7 months, I had already had a couple under my belt). She has some of the yummy tasting medicine and I know she'll be back to her self in no time.

Weight - 14 lbs 9 oz
Height - 25.5 inches

Down 4 ounces from her 6 month visit.

Visit with the Baers

When mommy and daddy lived in Atlanta, Don and Kathy Baer were their mentors. They studied some great books, devotionals and bible studies with the Baers and when we moved to Austin, they moved to California. They came to Texas for a wedding this weekend and stayed with us one night. Mommy and daddy went to dinner with them at Z'Tejas (yum) while my baby and I got to stay home and have TONS of fun with Aunt Cindy and Uncle Chris. We had so much fun seeing them and they met my baby for the first time. Mommy and daddy sure do miss seeing them often but we enjoyed being able to spend some quality time while they were here. We'll come see y'all soon in California!

(Ms. Kathy has the pictures on her camera so maybe mommy can add one later)

Which comes first - The chicken or the egg?

It's been a race and now it's over. Although there was much hope from mommy that my baby would say 'ma ma' first, Tatie officially is saying 'da da'.......and often.

I think mommy may demand a re-count because there may have been unfair coaching behind the scenes.

Shopping with Mommy

If you don't know this yet, I hate my car seat and definitely don't like staying in it any longer than I have to. Because of this, I'm not a very good shopping partner for mommy because when mommy goes to the grocery store, I have to stay in my car seat in the cart. Although there is so much to see at the grocery store, I still have a fit which makes for a not so pleasant shopping experience for mommy and the other customers within earshot. Today at Central Market, mommy thought she'd try letting me sit in the grocery cart and it was a hit! I was happy as can be (although still a little wobbly) and mommy was able to shop in peace.

Weekend in College Station

We went to College Station this weekend because Mama (my 91 year old great grandmother) was in the hospital. She had to have her appendix removed and while she was recovering, I entertained myself at the farm.
