Tripp is 3 1/2

Little guy -
I'm a few days late but , sweet love, but don't think you turning 3 1/2 went un-noticed. In my mind, you're my sweet little baby boy but as you stand in front of me and I really look at you, I realize you're growing up...and quickly.

You are so much fun and I love the conversations we have. You're really starting to reason and figure out the 'whys' on many things. On the other hand, you come up with some really creative explanations for other things. Example: when we couldn't find your crocs, you told me that you put them in a cozy place so that they could take a nap. Good to know. I love your fierce determination and your enthusiasm about life! You are very active and very happy. You love movies, your sandbox, your baby, dinosaurs, trucks, trains and all things boy. You have a vivid imagination and an amazing memory. Sometimes it scares me how good your memory is and you'll often mention something out of the blue from a year ago. You LOVE to sing and dance and you actually have a pretty good ear for music. Your dancing looks a bit like Elvis Presley and you tend to shake one leg and dance around. It's awesome!

Specific favorites lately include: mac and cheese, Max & Ruby, The Little Mermaid, your blue bear, green pillow and marshmallows. You LOVE babies and want to 'pet' all babies we see. You also still love warm milk in the morning and after nap and of course, your icky thumb.

Living with a 3 year old is definitely more challenging than living with a 2 year old. You have your moments of back talk and disobedience but I think you're still testing the boundaries and seeing what you can get away with. I can't blame you but I do have to say time out is still used pretty often. More recently, we've made 'chores' into a game of who can do it first. You're pretty motivated by being first - even if trying to get you to go potty. Whatever it takes, right?

You're still my cuddle bug and I pray that you always will be. You're very affectionate and you tell us you love us all of the time. More than anything, I love your heart and your gently spirit. You are truly a kind and gentle soul and I think you'll show others a lot of compassion as you grow. I pray that your tender heart is protected as well and that you never know heartbreak and your spirit is never broken. Wishful thinking, maybe, but that is my prayer. We love you more than you know and are thankful we're on this amazing journey with you.

We love you, love bug!

(Do you like my picture? Miss Kim came over the other day and took a few pictures of my baby and me. Did you know she's a photographer? Yep! Her blog is linked to ours and she takes some really great pictures. Think of her next time you want cute kiddo pics, family pics or whatever else you might think of. She made it fun for us! http://www.kimberlysarantakes.com/)

Camp CB

Mommy heard about a day camp and so today I went to Camp CB. It was a blast and when mommy and daddy came to pick me up, I told them I wasn't ready to go home yet. Would you want to leave if you got to go hiking, ride the chair lift, feed chipmunks goldfish up on the mountain, do the bungee again (3 times today alone), ice skate, rock climb, play with new friends AND have ice cream? Nope - me neither. While I was at camp, daddy went fly fishing and mommy and my baby just had a 'girl's day' but I can't imagine they had the fun I did. Maybe next time they'll go to Camp CB with me.

The Mayor of Crested Butte

I am now the town mayor of Crested Butte. Everyone I see, regardless of where we are, gets a hello and introduction to the Riley family. I tell them my name and then I tell them to come see my little sister, Amelia Tate. Sometimes, I even tell the strangers that they can pet her if they want to. She doesn't seem to mind. Today we went into a store and I broke into my routine but the lady said, 'ah yes, this is Amelia Tate'. They know us around here, thanks to me. It's good to be mayor.

The Adventure Center

I did the coolest thing today- even better than riding the bus. I bungee jumped! Well, sort of. It's really Eurobungee but in my own words, it was 'amazing'. I had so much fun that I wanted to go again and again. Afterwards, I did a little rock climbing and tried my hand at ice skating.

Mt Crested Butte

Mt. Crested Butte is 9,898 ft high and has breath-taking views. We rode the Silver Queen all the way up to the top, hiked to the scenic overlook and rode back down. My baby and I weren't scared one bit and loved every minute of it.

Crested Butte Concert in the Park

Every Wednesday, there is live music at Mountaineer Square. Tonight we had dinner on the patio and enjoyed some of the local music scene in the beautiful mountain air.

Fantasy Ranch

Drum roll, please. I'm officially 3 1/2 years old today! Can you believe it? To celebrate, we had a very special day ahead of us and it started off at Fantasy Ranch. I not only got to ride 'Apache', but the cowboy let me ride in the tractor with him and I got to make the scoop go up and down. How can it get any better than that?

Quest for Peanut Lake

"Peanut lake is an easy mountain bike ride through town and then off road to a beautiful scenic lake area." The bike shop owner had the 'beautiful scenic lake area' right but not much more. We thought it would be a great idea to see some of the countryside from a mountain bike and then find a nice place to have a picnic. After it was all said and done, we had a great time and did have a nice picnic but mommy and daddy quickly learned they were a little out of shape for this 'easy' ride. Mommy also learned too late that padded shorts would have been a big help (thanks Miss Jenny)! My baby and I had a great time in the trailer behind daddy and baby Tate even took a bit of a nap along the way. It was another great and beautiful day in Crested Butte.

Hmmm......after seeing this, we decided not to go much further. Did you see the part that says if you're attacked by a mountain lion, fight back? Um, I don't think so.

Night on the Town

The kitchen in the condo is oh so convenient but tonight, we hit the town and had dinner at 'The Wooden Nickel'. Yum! Afterwards, daddy treated us to hot fresh cookies at 'Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory'. Double Yum!
Bellied up to the bar.
Fresh from the oven!

The BUS

The best part of the trip so far is............the bus! The bus will take you all over town and every 15 minutes when I hear it, I run to the window and let mommy know our bus is here. The highlight of my day today was definitely the bus ride home. Why else would you come to Colorado if not for the bus?

Just say 'NO' to car seats...or sitting on your bottom on the bus!
We even had a jungle gym on our bus
